Public Service Ads by Google

These ads are showing up on my site.

I've just noticed today that strange looking irrelevant ads are showing up on my cellular site in the Google Adsense column. They do not look like any of the regular Adsense ads, and there is only one displayed at a time which fills up the entire column.

Instead of seeing "Ads by Google" at the top of the column, and the ad hyperlinks and the column borders in blue, the whole column is white except for the black ad text. "Public Service Ads by Google" is located at the bottom of the column.

Here is one of the ads;

Multiple Sclerosis Assoc.

Eases Challenges for People with MS. Give your support today!

msaa.com

Questions;

1. Has anybody else experienced these ads?

2. Do I still get paid if people click on these ads since they are "public service" ads? I would think Google doesn't charge for "public service" ads. So if they don't get paid, who pays me?

Thanks in advance

These ads (PSAs) are normally shown when there are no targeted ads available.

You can set up an alternative page to show instead of these ads when you get your ad code from the adsense site.

No, you do not get paid for clicks on these ads.

They can also be triggered by "stop words" search the forum here or look down a couple messages in this section and you'll see a bit of a discussion of them. They can be, seemingly innocent words, however, watch out for words like "crash" "killed" and such.. like, a system crash killed my connection would trigger such ads..

Bummer, but that's the way it is.
