Alternative ads at weekend?

I have tried putting my alternative performance ads on over the last couple of weekends in place of my adsense ones.

It seems to be working really well, weekends are normally 50-70% of usual figures, but it seems people have more time on weekends to fill in forms etc, so these ads which earn 50% what adsense does in the week earn the same as adsense would in the week, but on the weekend!

Anyone else tried things like this out, is this common practice?

Are these just ads for affiliate programs (CJ, BeFree,...)?
