Two sites, same topic

I own two sites, both on the same topic targeting different keyword sets. Both sites offer the same services, but also feature content unique (not just reworded) to their specific sites (50/50 service page/content page ratio). They are on different hosts and are not heavily crosslinked - just one regular link exchange between the two.

I have Adsense on site A - which has done extremely well in the SERP's across the engines for years. I do not have Adsense on site B, which is currently being sandboxed by google, but does very well on Yahoo. However, the CPC on site A is very nice and I would really like to add Adsense to site B.

But, my concern lies is giving google a "connection" between the two. I do not want to do anything to screw with site A's ranks. Has anyone had an experience with adding Adsense to two sites targeting the same topic? Has it affected either site in a bad way? The CPC is very tempting, but I don't want to get greedy either LOL. Any thoughts appreciated.

I do not want to do anything to screw with site A's ranks.

The response from Google has always been that adsense does not influence SERPS one way or the other. <The only way that it could possibly affect {and this is just my opinion} is that if your site is full of blackhat SEO tricks and the adsense reviewer notices them, then he might forward it to the SERPS people>

Whatever you do, do not put Adsense on both sites. Google will then have a connection between the two sites, which they do use to their advantage.

What do you mean?
If I was in the same position, I wouldn't mind something happening to their advantage as long as it wasn't to my disadvantage.

bhartzer, i can't get what you are trying to say?

I alos have two websites which have same content but at targetting different audiences, i mean one is local and other one is made as internationla version.

I don't see any problem or complication in placing ads on both websites, infact i have placed them on both websites and am getting good results

I have very similar sites targeting to different places (eg. englandwidgets.com usawidgets.com) and I haven't had any problems with adsense on both of them.

As long as Google is making money with the ads on your sites, what should they care? They have unique content, that's what counts for SERPS.

Google doesn't like you to have two sites, both with the same Adsense code on them, appear in the SERPs at the same time--no matter what keyword it is, how competitive (or not) it is, and how different the two sites are.

Ohhh i see... so in spite of the assurances that adsense code does not influence SERPS, you have found this to be the case or speculating?

BTW, speculating is fine with me...

I have a site that's done well with with AdSense. I'm in the process of launching a new site, same and similar keywords but entirely different content.

Mostly related to liability issues I run my first site through a corporation. I have set up a second corporation for the second site.

The primary reason I set up two corporations was I wanted two separate accounts with AdSense, just in case one site got booted from AdSense (like some errant fraudulent clicks issue).

My concern now is that someone posted a thread a week or two ago that stated that his site got booted from AdSense on a fraudulents clicks issue and for good measure they booted his brother out of AdSense too (different AdSense account, similar name, same mailing address).

I haven't come to a conclusion about what to do when it comes time to apply for the AdSense account for the second site/corporation. I didn't really want to go to the trouble/expense of renting a mail box. I don't really want to lie about my name in the AdSense contact information.

loanuniverse, Adsense code influences the results when there's a manual review of sites.

Assuming both sites are clean however, would your opinion still apply? That using them on both could negatively affect either in the SERP's?

chrisnrae: yes, my opinion still applies.
