High CTR in the mornings.

Does this happen to you?

My CTR tends to be higher in the mornings. It is sometimes very high (for me). As the day goes on, the CTR falls.

Is this normal?

"Why is my CPC higher in the morning?", "42." Nah, doesn't quite work.

Seriously tho', different sites have different traffic trends. If that's normal, then it's pretty normal. Of course it's always possible something happens. It's possible the 'more interesting' ads are slowly reaching their daily limits 1 by 1 and leaving you with leftovers by the end of the day. Or, it's possible you run a site on pregnancy and some of the ads are about morning sickness. It's difficult to tell without details :D

CTR is high in the mornings as the data does not update. Bear in mind that Adsense stats is not real-time.

It is almost 4 pm EST, and my stats are the same as when I logged in at 5 am EST today. The failure of Adsense to provide real time stats has cured my addiction to stats checking.

Ah, daily spending limits. That makes sense.

If that's the case, the mix of morning advertisers might be quite different than the afternoon/evening advertisers. Consequently it would be best analyze my Channels at different times of the day.

Now, I just need to set up my Channels so I have something to analyze. :)

My stats usually start out slow (when I first log in) and improve throughtout the day.

I could be wrong, but my interpretation is that it's because the period from midnight to ~9:00 AM PST has a high proportion of international traffic. That means more PSA's, and probably less competition overall leading to a lower EPC as well.

As jomaxx said, consider your morning time compared to the time it is for other people.

For instance, I'm on the U.S. west coast and I get most of my traffic and sales before noon. If you think about it, it is already 3:00 on the east coast.

Right, my traffic usually starts out slow, too. To further complicate things, my stats seem to be reported at various times. Sometimes, they are fairly current but are occasionally about 24 hours late. It's too bad the stats aren't linked to a specific time of day (Ex: As of 09:30, your stats were as follows...).

Anyway, I'm specifically interested in the CTR - as opposed to traffic. I think that's useful info. Thanks fidibidabah.

Not for me... FWIW, lately I've been seeing EPC skyrocket between 4pm and 9pm. (Google time)
