Is your ctr dropping?

Here's what not to do

Last night, whilst suffering my 4th straight day of ctr<2% I decided to switch things up abit. All those urls I had been blocking since 4/2, I let 'em all back in. What effect has it had? ctr <.3%! Of course it's a bit early to have anything definitive, but if you decide to try this be sure and cut and paste the previously filtered urls somewhere so you can add them back in later.

This can't be what Google wants!

I'm becoming increasingly draconian with my url filter and my ctr is increasing..it's in the region of 8% but naturally my impression rate has dropped alarmingly. It seems that as I filter out the dross, I manage to flush out ads I have never seen before, that are exactly what I want to display.

When I filtered out all irrelevant ads, my CTR went up noticably, but my EPC went WAY down. Removed the list, and things returned as they were - low CTR, high EPC (which works out to a better bottom line).

I'm going to try putting the list back this week, see if the same thing happens again.
