Adsense Penalty?

Anyone else dropping in Google ranks after monetizing thier site?

My (localized and unique) rankings in Google went from 1st page to 10th page after adding Adsense to my site.

I tried adding Adsense to another web site of mine, and the same thing happened - again.

I've been in the business for over 7 years, so I know what normal fluctuations look like, and my results aren't normal.

Is anyone else experiencing a "Adsense Penalty"?

Not here. We're still #1 for the main keyword of our industry since adding Adsense. If at all, we even moved up from being #2-3 to the top spot about 10 months ago, and we've stayed there since. We're also getting more #1 keywords and improving in some of our other keywords.

I don't see a correlation between ranking in the SERPs and Adsense for our site.

It's not related. Google serps hop around a lot anyway. It used to be after every dance you kind of knew where you stood for a month but now you never know.

Actually I have a page that has been gradually crawling up in the serps for an important single keyword and it just went from 8 to 6 in the results. It's had AdSense on it for a month or so.

that happened to me, all my sites fell off the radar shortly after putting adsense on - may have just been a coincidence as it was around the florida update

I have adsense on one site. No problems. Rankings are up and traffic has contnues to grow at a decent rate.

Yes, I dont and I cant think of adsense to be a reason for your rankings to drop!

I have had no problem with any of the sites I have added AdSense too - they have either stayed the same or gotten better. If this was a widespread problem, you would see far more threads in this forum on the topic - it has only been brought up in a handful of threads in the past.

You only need to take a long in the Google News forum to see that lots of people are experiencing the same problem with dropping rankings.

When you added adsense did you maybe mess with the design? Did you replace something, a picture (with alt tags)?

You may have done it yourself if you attempted to tweak when you added it.
