AdSense plus Marketbanker

Is the Marketbanker vertical layout OK?

Here's what the AdSense FAQ says:

Can I sign up if I am already a part of an ad network?

Yes. However, we do not permit AdWords ads to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads. This would include all content-targeted ads as well as text-based ads. Text-based ads, for this situation, can be loosely defined as ads that mimic AdWords ads or appear to be associated with AdWords ads on your site. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links.

To me, the Marketbanker vertical ad layout doesn't mimic AdWords, and it doesn't appear to be associated with AdWords. Which leads me to believe that it wouldn't violate the TOS.

Has anyone tried this? Any official response from Google about this particular case?

I read elswhere on the forum that some people have been using Marketbanker for their alternative ads, which also seems like an interesting idea. If anyone has tried that, I would be interested to hear about your experience.

Running this sounds like a great idea. I didn't know about marketbanker. I've been using bid clix for alt ads.

using Marketbanker for their alternative ads

I use Marketbanker for the alternate ads on one site, more to fill the space than for the revenue. The Marketbanker default ads produce (for me) revenues counted in cents, not dollars, for many thousands of impressions a day.

However I did sell a couple of site-specific ads last month, which bring in almost a tenth of the effective CPM of Adsense ads, and as you can set your own rate on those you might do better (or sell none...).

The MB ad server can be VERY slow at times, was slowing down or stopping the page load.

In other words, if you have anything better, it's barely worth using MB (I'm unlikely to bother with it after the current ads finish their run, better to run house ads), but it's a low-effort filler if you want to keep the ads purely text. I use the banner ad, as an alternate for the leaderboard (works on my layout).
