It is very interesting to see how many of my visitors are on my site and they click on my ad that comes up on my AdSense. It never occured to me that I should filter my own URL.

Would be something for Google to consider as a top level usage hint for AdSense for newbies I guess. Took me two days and 10 dollars later to figure that one out...

well think about it this way. ur ad is so effective that visitors to your own site get drawn off.
Either that or your site is so bad that people cant wait to leave it ;) just kidding. but nice point that you have raised. Ill make sure that i remember this when i get my adwords account.

Perhaps they could (should) go a step further and automatically block ads that appear on the same URL (unless I'm missing a fundamental reason why not).

That would not address the frequent circumstance of sub domains and others that belong together without a natural relationship.
