Irrelevant Adsense

Was OK before this change or channel...

one of my sites is about keyword1 and keyword2.
Adsense is showing now ads only on keyword1.

since keyword 2 is quite different topic, it doesn't make any sense to show keyword1 ads on keywords2 pages.

It has been ok..and I think it is because of the relevancy change they just announced.

Anyone seeing this too?

Yep. I see an increase in irrelevant, or tangentially relevant ads today. Even a couple of PSA's mixed in with ads on subjects where I know very well there are plenty of advertisers

It hasn't significantly effected click thru or income.

One day is not enough to set a trend. Give it a month or so.

My site has over 1 million pages, using the javascript tracking system i'm finding all the ads being clicked in the last few hours are all on topic. There is no comparison between adsense of 2 days ago and that of today.

I have seen some completely off topic ads alongside a completely on target ad in a two banner layout.

This started around the same time the new change was announced.

Will have to give it time, as I am sure G also wants the ads to be as relevant as possible.

Is today better or worse?

I'm getting some really off the wall ads today but they are just occasional and I suspect a part of google trying to pinpoint the topic of the page better.

One was on Civil War widgets and somehow it picked up on words that made it decide it was a business page. Just strange.

epc up a good 20% but still far down from months ago.

I'm seeing massive shifts of ads across 10's of thousands of pages. pages that used to show 2 or 3 ads, are now cycling through 20 ads or so. google seems to be testing every ad related to your topic and then throwing out the poor performing ones.

I'm getting some really off the mark ads. Hotels on classic car pages for example.

And the new targeting seems to leave something to be desired, if it doesn't change.

I can live with ebay ads, and even the price comparison ads, but bad credit solutions ...Yikes!

I'll be tweaking a lot of text and blocking a bunch of ads if this doesn't change.

Whereas I used to get 100% on-the-money ads, now I'm getting 3 out of 4 ads with only one keyword of my three word keyphrase that are totally unrelated to the theme of my site. This is happening on the one page with the most content that gets the most clicks. As a result my earnings are 1/3 of the norm... these new changes really stink for me.

The problems appear to have corrected themselves. The good ads are back, and now my EPC is -way- up. Good deal!

Ditto. I'm getting bizarre off topic ads today. I'm seeing lots of ads for products and services that have nothing to do with the topic of the page or even the whole site.

P.S. So far mine have not been corrected.

I am seeing some improvement.
At least it is showing 1 keyword1 ad and 3 keyword2 ads instead of all 4 keyword2 ads for keyword1 page.

I hope it corrects itself pretty soon, because the keyword1 pages make 40% of total...

Currently CTR, Earnings, Clicks are way down...

Ditto!

Some targeted and a lot of not quite targeted ads are showing on mine.

I'm seeing some completely offtopic ads too, but I'm also seeing ads I've never seen before which are right on. I think they're experimenting, zeroing in on what works for a particular page. Give it time.

They seem to be experimenting, but not too carefuly. I don't think Japanese-language PSAs are going to be a big success on my English-language site.

My ads seem to have become far less context-sensitive. It's as if AdSense no longer recognizes the site theme. It puts all the weight on local content, as if each page is its own little theme-free universe. I haven't seen any improvements to ad relevance so far.

Unsuprisingly, click-throughs have dropped through the floor.

The problem seems to frequently originate in a single word in a URL or inbound ink.

Say I have a page that is screaming out:
"I am about green widgets in New York"
"I am about green widgets in New York"
"I am about green widgets in New York"
"I am about green widgets in New York"

My page will be #1 in the Google SERPs for a search term like "green widgets new york".

AdSense, however, surmizes that the page is about golf greens in California.
