For a few of days now, once the day is underway, our site revenue updates are pro-rata with the clicks eg. 10 clicks 10x revenue, then later 45 clicks 45x revenue. By the next morning this relationship has gone.

Wonder if you get allocated an average $ per click based on recent data, then the updates look at clicks x $ for most of the day, to simplify things, then a comprehensive database query at the end of the day to pick up the exact stats in one go - would save loads of bitty db queries?

Adsense stats are the 9th miracle of the world, enough said.

I dont think google could ever put themselves in a position where the reported profit at one point in the day is higher than the reported profit at a later point, or the end, of the day.

That's true, hadn't thought of that. Just seems odd its doing it again today. Unless they've taken a low, safe standard figure (ours is always higher by morning).

I'm not sure exactly what you're describing, but I have never seen anything along these lines. IMO it's probably got something to do with changes that occur throughout the day in patterns of use, in demographics, and in where your traffic comes from geographically.

Sorry its a bit confusing.
In the 10x and 45x the x is an amount per click, for example say 5c. So the total revenue is always a multiple of clicks times the 5c.

For instance, yesterday it followed the pattern all day, but this morning the final revenue for yesterday is showing 45x + $y, where y is quite a lot.

To expand on what I was saying, from your email address it looks like you're located in the UK. Is your definition of "day" approximately 9-5 Greenwich time? If so, that would mean you're seeing virtually none of the effect of US traffic.

Yes 9-5 GMT, so on our Adsense reports we go onto 'today' typically at around 10am GMT, which would seem about right to include the US data as well. Our stats don't change after that.
