I have a forum which generates more traffic than any of my other sites with adsense. Have put a leaderboard ad on the footer which displays on every forum page, its been there for about 4 months now. However the ads that display are rarely relevant to the content, its usually charities in the US and php hosting ads. How can I get ads that are relavant to my content? The Impressions are very high but CTR is almost non existant for the forum.

I have a forum and I find my ads very relavant. It sounds like there may not be any ads that are relevant for your site since your appear to be getting Public Service ads.

Are you sure you don't have any other issues that could be causing such a high number of PSAs, such as session IDs?

Oh yeah, session IDs would do it. I installed a mod to remove session IDs.

I have also installed the mod to remove the session IDs so that G can spider the forum which its doing now.

I think you're on the right track with the non relevancy for the site, there are just not enough adsense customers for my area. I guess theres nothing to be done about this then?

Hmm... I'm not an expert, but I have noticed that sometimes the ads changed relative to what content was nearby. Furthermore, the addition of a few lines of content was enough to cause a negative or positive effect.

I'm using a leaderboard at the top of the page, but only on the actual thread pages, where there's content. I also excluded irrelevant ads.

You may want to try changing the location of the ad to the top, or somewhere closer to the content.

there's a mod for forums that lets you display adsense ads just above the last post.

Remove copyright info in the footer - ie if you have the text 'Powered by phpBB 2.0.6', you can't be too suprised if you get ads fro phpBB hosting.

Does the mod you installed only remove the session id for guests or the Google bot? I seem to recall one of the vb mods only did that. It didn't remove the session ids for all users. If that's the case your users would still get PSAs.
