Viewing AdSense via google cache

does it always show public service ads?

I noticed that when viewing the Google cache of a page with an AdSense block, the block always displays public service ads.

Is this by design?

[edit: after viewing some more, it seems the pages where just showing public service ads at the time of caching. ]

Yes, I noticed that too. Luckily it doesn't appear that way online.

Adsense and Google's cache don't seem to work well together. When I view my pages with Google's search cache, the ads are in Italian even though the "live" pages are in English and show ads in English.

It might have something to do with how long Google has been caching that page (not how long a specific page is in the cache, but overall how long Google has been retrieving and refreshing their caches for it).

Because, I seem to recall the Adsense for my popular pages used to all be off targeting in the Google cached versions, but I just checked all those pages in the cached versions a few minutes ago, and the targeting is all 100% correct.

This may be a silly point but, in theory at least, wouldn't the cached copy of your site need to be crawled by the adsense bot before ads can be shown? they are different urls at the end of the day. If no one has viewed the cache of your site adsense can't determin the ads to display.

I get Turkish ads for US sites in the cached version.
