First day I put the adsense code and I love it. Looks good, goes well with the layout and design of the page. I've got one problem. All pages have targeted ads except the index page.

My site is about destination X and the ad is about destination Y. When I first put the AdSense code it had 5 targeted ads about destination X but then it changed to the single ad about destination Y (which is not even mentioned on the page) and it's been like that for half a day now.

The page is optimised for destination X and Y is not even mentioned on the page. How long in your experience before things for new accounts settle down?

Oh and something else happened. I tested the pages on my hard drive (to see if the width is ok) and I got Google-(some German word starting with Z) instead of "Google Ads" and the ads where completely unrelated. Should ads appear when you're looking at pages from your hard drive?

Thanks

I used to get only PSA's when viewing from my local drive, but now, for no reason I can figure out, I usually see ads for Usenet related stuff.

My guess:

1. Geotargeting based on your IP address while visiting, the GAS displayed destination Y because it thought you may from there or related to, or interested to be there (perhaps according to your visit behaviors it knew..., hard to say... who knows? :-p)

2. PSA may also show up at least,
(a) on the page which GAS did not understand the content/theme: it may unknown to Mediabot, or just not be visited yet;
(b) on the page which is a Snapshot/cache page of Google, Yahoo!, etc..
(c) on the page which is a Pre-view page of any HTML editor, i.e. Frontpage, etc.; or be opened from your local drive, "file:\\" (not from a HTTP/HTTPS URI)
(d) or just when Paid-CPC adverts run out on that time "because of geotarget, risk pool, ... ....reasons " of this page.

What puzzles me is that index is highly optimised for destination X (not overly optimised though ;). It's true that I revised content just before I registered for AdSense I'm now getting yellow pages for country Z. I'm not from country Z or country Y. I'll wait patiently for some more targeted ads.

Competition only, advertisers from Z or Y want you visit there...

Free hint: I've heard a rumor about GAS, the more frequency you care about it, the less you'll gain from it, just forget about it for a couple of days... even don't check the stats. -:p
