Adsense Reporting UI with Channels

Discussing the new UI for Adsense reports with the new channels feature

Thought it might be useful to start a thread about the new reporting UI incorporating channels. Two initial observations:

The selection widgets take up much of the initially visible portion of the page. Not as elegant as typical Google UI.

The column that lists the channels shows them by number rather than name. I would rather see the names I gave them instead of 10 digit numbers.

Yes I agree, to have the number displayed is not as clear as it would be to have the name.

NEW CHANNEL DATA ARE OUT! (That is, if you use the channel feature).

I am not sure if I get what you mean, but the channels on my panel are all listed by name.

Mine are all listed as numbers. Would be much easier to see 20 names instead of 20 x 10 digits numbers.

That is really strange. The only way for me to see the 10 digit numbers is to select a channel on the "ad layout code" page (listed by name), and see what number is inserted in the code field.

Here is a screenshot, how it is supposed to be:

In the report (not the select box) I am just getting numbers not the channel names I assigned and only getting March 18th data (the end of the day) after I added the channels.

Oh, now I see. Since I added the channel codes, the 19th, I don't see the channel reports yet.

But I guess it is an error that will get fixed (as I said. In the screen shot, the names are listed).

I assume the number rather than name is a error that will be fixed. Right now I have a handwritten list of names and numbers (I'm only using a few right now).

Of course, there isn't enough data to draw conclusions, but if the small sample holds true I will have some suprises about which page draws the most clickthroughs. Perhaps they are the pages that stink and people want to get off real fast ;}

I have a very small amount of channel reports and I am pleased to see that the channel number has been replaced with the channel name....

Well done Adsense

Happy to see that change as well. I had made a list of the numbers with the corresponding channel names, but is sure is much easier to interpret with the names directly in the reports.

I see names, and have a little data in the reports. Should prove to be very useful.

But I agree with the topic starter, the selection box takes up way to much space. Google needs to hire a usability consultant.

Yeah, the reporting interface, the fact that every time I hit the BACK arrow the form fields get messed up somehow, the 2-day delay... It looks very much as if the entire reporting upgrade was hacked together in the past couple of weeks - i.e. since we developed those scripts that track clicks and impressions by IP address down to the page level in real time. But unfortunately not earnings.

Anyway, I'm thankful they did it, and hopefully the kinks will get worked out over the next little while.
