The bigger your site, the less high paying keywords you get. So the more pageviews you get the lower your EPC gets.
When asked to explain that statement he said he couldn't really do so without violating the Adsense TOS.
Does anyone else have any reason to believe this is true?
I only have one site, but when I look at my competitors and the ads that are showing on their pages that are similar to mine I see the pretty much the same ads that show on my site.
It doesn't seem to matter if it's a 10 page site, or a 1,000 page site, or larger. Pages with similar content show similar ads, often the very same ads.
I've drawn all kinds of graphs, calculated things, etc..
I've came to one conclusion - there is apparently no conspiracy related to CTR and/or amount of daily clicks and/or pageviews.
There MIGHT be conspiracy for sites who get less than 100 clicks per day. It MIGHT be possible that those sites get higher EPC, and/or more EPC variation (i.e. that's where you'd notice a 10$ click sometimes, etc). I don't know why... this is open to speculation. This might however be untrue - but appears true to me. 150 days is a good sample and there is a lot of traffic to sample as well. I believe that my little study is statistically relevant.
At any rate, for a high traffic site, such as mine, there appears to be no cabal and no plot to give you diminishing returns.
There appears, however, to be a sizable, but progressive drop in average EPC throughout the time. It drops very slowly, but continuously - even with moving averages.
I'd expect the average EPC to get stable at some point - it can't drop forever.
My site runs thousands of forums and therefore not in a niche industry context, but rather covers about all of the subjects a little.
