Penalized for Adsense?

I think it has really happened

My local web site with excellent, normal, relevant and completely non-spam content has dropped from #1-2 on several 3-4 word keyphrases to #200+.

This seems to correlate with my implementaion of Adsense, which I added 3-4 weeks ago.

Anyone else seen a drop when adding Adsense? Not a good way to run a program in my opinion!

There was a recent thread about this topic, even though I think there is no correalation between adding Adsense and moving down the SERPS.

I don't think AdSense has anything to do with it. I rank extremely high for my main keywords. If anything, I've gone higher over the past few months.

Actually, I think AdSense can help your sites indexed by G quickly. Although it does not mean high ranking, it does save some time.

rehabguy, I'll join in the chorus that putting Adsense on your site won't affect your Google rankings one way or another.

I appreciate you guys taking time to give input on this.

I'll just wait it out and see what happens. (I can't do anything else except buy adwords, huh?)

Maybe I'm just a victim of the latest update.

Thanks again for your opinions!

A lot of people are seeing a massive drop in google traffic since middle / end of last week. Check the serps and see if your pages just have a title / description in the serps.

It seems like google has a lot of pages for which it's not displaying any page content, therefore no searches are picking them up even though they are still in the serps, just with no content.

Have a look at the Google News forum for the latest info on it.

I think the same thing happened to me. I have 12 good content driven sites (sub-domains). Anyways, I was getting fair traffic then over the weekend I added Adsense. Since then my traffic has almost entirely vanished. I got a decent Page rank yesterday but still no traffic. I have no idea what Google is doing?

So what do u think Dayo_UK...

Is this a temporary thing? I can't really identify
what happened. There are a lot of Google threads about different updates that happened over the past week.

I think that you adding adsense had nothing to do with the loss of traffic you are seeing!

I have colleauges who run Adsense and have had a sudden drop off last weekend and colleagues who dont run Adsense who have had a sudden drop off.

With reference to the Google update/tweak ... ummm, The best I can say is Google are intelligent and proactive on the whole, so hopefully (!) they will be taking action to correct the mess - it might be a few weeks though. Hold tight I guess and look at other traffic sources.
