Geo Targeting Ads?

Is that why some are seeing a drop in Adsense?

I live outside of the United States and I noticed a few days ago that all the ads were disappearing from certain keywords on a google search. Then on my site my Adsense ads were all of a sudden showing only one or two ads per page.

At first I thought the ad inventory was depleted. But the lack of ads in a google search was bothering me (but the serps looked nicer). I cleaned out my cookies and still and the same result.

However, when I used an anonymous proxy all the ads in the regular google search returned as well as the ads on my site.

Is this the reason why some are seeing a drop in Adsense revenues? My page impressions are still the same but everything else has dropped. Can anyone else confirm this?

They have geotargeted ads since the beginning, it isn't anything new.

Ok that makes sense but why until a few days ago was I able to see the ads. I guess what I am saying is what changed?

Living outside the US means that you will miss the great majority of the advertisers. It will also mean that if a couple of the ones that had your country targetted decide to pull out of content, it will be more noticeable.

Oh I am hosted in the US. So that is not a problem. But this makes it a real pain to check the ads for I would rather not have appearing on my site.

That is the great thing about tracking. You get to find out what ads are really being shown in your site. :)

I live ouside the US, so I need to use a proxy to view what ads my users see.

Is there a chance your ISP changed your IP address? Perhaps G mistakenly thought your former IP was from the US (or another country that has more ads), but knows your current one isn't.

Possible but some thing happened at the same time google was fluxing between www2 and www3 last Thursday I think. I am just curious what changed. Perhaps google figured out I am not in the US then.

I think it is getting harder to figure out the serps just because the changes could be just for the serps or they could be Adwords related.
