I have a German ad on one of my sites with a comma in the url! (it's like www.linkofurl,de)

I've clicked on the "Ads by Google" link and even in that it's showing the link with the comma in it!
When I add this link to the URL filter I get an URL contains illegal characters. error!

The strange thing is that the ad is working when clicked on (I've been told)!
When I try the URL with the comma by typing it directly in the address bar of IE, it obvious does not work!

Any suggestion on how I can block this URL?

Noel

When an advertiser creates a campaign for AdWords he sets up 2 urls, 1 for the domain name to be displayed and the other for the destination.

To get the actual destination url right click the ad and click on properties. Inside of that very long url you will be able to see the destination url. Block that URL.

Also if you just block www.linkofurl.de and linkurl.de that sould do the trick.

Finally try to click on the "Ads By Google" link when the ad is displayed. That should give you the URL.

Thanks for you info..

Finally try to click on the "Ads By Google" link when the ad is displayed. That should give you the URL.

This is what I did allready, but that link is showing the URL with the comma!

When I hover over the ad, it's also showing the url with the comma in the "window status" bar! (like go to www.linkofurl,de)

When I right click on the ad, it's showing me a lot of stuff, but not the url!

If okay, I will post the right-click data here (with my code removed)

Like novice said, Adwords advertisers set 2 URLs for each ad: 1. a display URL and 2. the actual target URL for the ad. The status bar and some ad block formats display the former, but it's the latter that the link actually redirects to after loading the Google tracking URL.

When I right click on the ad, it's showing me a lot of stuff, but not the url!

Right-click the ad, copy the content from it and look for the following section of the query string.

&adurl=<URL>&client=<ADSENSE_PUBLISHER_ID>

The variable adurl is the target URL (marked as <URL> in snippet above). If you don't see that variable please paste in the entire target URL with identifying variable values obfuscated.

Hmmm I might be missing something here, but this is the code it shows me when I right click on the comma ad and select properties.

I've removed the client=ca-pub- and url= text.

I really hope that I'm not breaking any rules here!

UPDATE

I was right clicking the MAIN TEXT of the ad and not the actual bold underlined text at the top of the ad!

Well guess what.. When I right clicked on the actual URL, it showed me the real URL that needed to be blocked!
