Hello to you, guys, from Siberia :-)

I have a question. I want to make a site like filewatcher.com (it's not an ad, it's just an example).

It will be ftp search engine. It will index many many files on different ftps and then people will search for some files they are interested.

And I want to use Adsense for it, but I don't know can I do it or not... As far as I read TOS, I won't be violation any rules, but sometimes I afraid people will seacrh for warez, mp3 or something illigal and my search engine will tell them some results and if the Google's code will be on that pages, what can happened?

But in the same time if I search for something illigal in any search egnine there will be results, but nobody will tell them that they are releasing warez, mp3 or child pornography.

I hope I made my question clear, thanks :-)

I think you're right on one point: all search engines are indexing some illegal material, whether they want to be or not. But the search engines aren't held repsonsible for the content because it does not reside on their servers.

From my understanding of the TOS, you should be able to use AdSense on the search site (since they are now allowing AdSense on search results pages without prior approval). It would be rather hypocritical of Google to keep you from using AdSense on a site that accidentally returns some results for illegal material when I can search Google for "<name a band> MP3" and find some illegal downloads.

sounds like a question best asked directly to the google adsense team.

Why not send them an email, then you'll have a definitive answer direct from the source.

Keep in mind that intent plays a big part in US law.

A search engine like Google may index some illegal content by it's very nature, but there are many 'search sites' out there that are setup specifically to help promote illegal activity.

So I personally wouldn't just assume that everything is created equally.
