Variations in Earnings Throughout the Day

Nighttime is better for me

How does everyone's earnings fluctuate throughout the day? I get a spikes in visitors starting at about 4 pm eastern. My site has a lot of teenagers visiting it so my traffic to it during the daytime is almost nothing.

I never realized how big of a difference it was until I started AdSense 6 months ago. About 80% of my earnings come from 5 pm eastern on. Anyone else get this? I'm sure it depends a lot on your target market.

There are perhpas too many variables to make any valid statements about this.

Advertizers can and do turn their ads on and off at various times, and I'm sure they also rotate campaigns with different CPC rates but similar terms.

On top of that, the Adsense reporting system is anything but consistent and timely.

Microcontroling has not worked for me due to the mentioned variables. Analysis ranges based on complete days are much more reliable. I would be concerned to waste too much energy over something that does not really add any value.

On top: depending on industry you might even deal with variables that dictate a more spreaded view in order to flatten season impact.

I typically see a climb in AdSense earnings during the late afternoon and evening, but I suspect that has more to do with Google's reporting lags than with user behavior.

My epc starts low then increases throughout the day.

My EPC starts high and decreases throughout the day.
Or maybe it's reporting lag.

I gave up trying to figure out anything logical with Adsense, even though I have lots of traffic (so should be able to do some kind of relevant stats).

As long as the monthly bottom line is good enough, I keep Adsense on my site, as soon as another network yields more with similarly low user annoyance factor, I'll switch.

My sites mirror that. The lag in Google's reporting makes it hard to analyze on an hour by hour basis.

My earnings usually start out higher and decrease towards the end of the day. The earnings to impressions ratio also decreases in the evening.
