Adsense sizing

Are you allowed to change?

Are you completely restricted from adjusting the size of the Adsense banners?

I mean could you just add 50 pixels to the width or not?

TIA

Ben.

Hi Ben,

I was looking at the Adsense terms of use last night as I wanted to resize an ad and it states that you cannot adjust the code at all. So, I'm afraid you can't resize the ads. (Shame really, as the ad layout I want to use is 30 pixels too large for my page layout.)

Yes, I can understand why they won't want fiddling overall, but sizing - that should be ok.

I'm not sure that's correct. If publishers were allowed to change the size of the ads then we would get all sorts of ad sizes on the web. Some of these will fall outside of the acceptable standards that advertisers want.

I think it may be best to ask Google about this one. Anyone want to fire an email off to them?

Premium publishers have more sizes, but they are still standard sizes. They just happen to have more variety. It is not a case of "Hmmm, I'd like to have an ad box that is 237 pixels wide and 502 pixels high."

That is a good point about advertisers wanting standard sizes.

But regular publishers tend to eventually get some of the options that premium publishers do. Regular publishers started out with just the banner and skyscraper, but eventually received the leaderboard and the inline rectange - both sizes which the premium publishers had first.

Does it works?

I think I did try (just curious) that at the begining when I was setting up the code on my pages and the result was no ads being showed .. so I left it... I was trying using the variable parameters they provide in the javascript code that needs to be pasted in the html code.

Anyway .. just curious again to know if modifying those parameters the size will change and Ads will be showed ... besides of the TOS .. just as general info
