It would make sense, from their p.o.v. to jack up the ranking of people with adsense on their site.
Also, could a mod edit my topic title to say

Does that mean it happens for everybody, probably not. Is it worth using as a SEO technique, again probably not. Googlebot picks sites up quick enough anyway these days.
But it did happen, so I guess its worth knowing.

I wonder if Inktomi will punish you if you have AdSense on your website when it goes live on Yahoo ..
Unlikely, if they want to stay in the search business.
The adsense bots are independant of the spidering bots for the search engine. Should have any effect on you at all.
Thats the official line, but it it ain't always so - as I detailed in my previous post.

Having the site appear might mean that just the homepage is in Google, which could be acomplished by a single visit of the Googlebot. Something that can be missed by a scan of the logs.

Now for all the pages to be in the Google Serps would require visits of the bot to each one of the pages, which would be hard to miss on a manual scan.
Doing a site:yoursite.com -term or term would give you the number of pages in the Google index.
The site was in the index because I saw it in the index. That is normally good enough for me, I rarely argue with my own eyes.
Many pages in fact, but only the ones that the Mediapartners bot had visited. There were no other bots visiting, and at the time no incoming links. I received search engine traffic for the phrases targeted by the individual pages.
The Mediapartners bot came as a result of my own visits to the site whilst checking it. Site was brand new - less than a week old.
On new sites I read the logs daily until I see they are spidered and receiving traffic. I would only use your suggested technique to find out HOW MANY pages I have in the index.
If you are doing all the other things correctly, its really not that important though.

You see, that was exactly the kind of response I was trying to ensure didn't happen.
If you have some incoming links, you will be spidered soon enough anyway, if you haven't then adding the adsense won't help you much.
And as for having the pattern confirmed or not, its irrelevant. I still have the log files, I can see it with my own eyes.
The only reason my observation is relevant is because it illustrates that the previous comments in this thread are not 'hard and fast' rules.
Frankly, I wish I hadn't bothered now.
Even if this was any more than a one-off experiment by Google, the point is that even sites without adsense can often get into Google within a week these days.
