On a forum with over 25,000 members myself and the moderators do a good job of controlling content that gets out of hand - with a few words being automatically filtered out in the vBulletin config.

The problem lies in the fact that if a post was made prior to the word being filtered (in vB) then it is not filtered when a user views that thread - since it only checks when the post is first made.

I added some code to make it so this is no longer the case as it parses each title/post for certain words and *'s out expletives as necessary. I also made it so that if any of those words are in the search query that the user would not see an AdSense ad come up. Ironically all this only applies to maybe a few thousand posts out of 2.2+ million, ah well.

Anyways, I'm now waiting for Google to review the site again before they let me put the code back up (I've been with them since August without a problem)

I hope what I did was sufficient, what do you guys/gals think? How would you tackle this?

If you've had AdSense on the forum since August without any issues from Google, why have you removed the code and why have you asked Google to review the site again?

...before they let me put the code back up........

I think his account got suspended. In my opinion, you have made reasonable attempts to fix the situation. However, the important opinion is that of the adsense reviewer.

Ya it was suspended...

Although, I was pleasantly surprised that they don't just boot out publishers and instead work with them to resolve issues (for the most part)

Groo: can you share why you got suspended? was it because of "profanity issues beyond your control"? i.e. members writing stuff which was against Google's TOS?
I am trying to do it the same way you do it, 50+ moderators on a huge forum which is online since 6 months (with no problems so far).

Ya.. the things in question are from user posts...
