Using overture and adword to promote adsense

I currently run two niche weblogs with adsense and they are doing nicely. But it's been difficult to muster more traffic. I'm not selling any type of product, but I was wondering if it was feasable to use adwords or overture to bring people to my site...

I tried that. I put myself at $0.10 on a bunch of words in Overture. I was making about twice as much as I was spending. It could not hurt to try.

Plus, worse comes to worse, even if you loose a bit, maybe you'll gain some repeat visitors for the future :)

It depends on your topic and the EPC for your keyword set. In my case I do rather well with AdWords at $0.05 to $0.08. If I go much over that I start to lose money. But that's not all bad either. You can use AdSense revenue to grow your site and kind of use it as a "rebate" on your paid traffic. The biggest problem is the cashflow problem caused by paying for AdWords now and waiting a considerable time for payment from AdSense for that traffic you send out.

Definitely give it a try. It may well work for you.

If you have a good quality site, I have seen that many advertisers in adwords don't have that. Therefore, I find search terms for $.05 that bring in lots of traffic and repeat visitors. What's important is that you have lots of good content on your site that will keep them coming.

A few things you might want to consider are:

What are your EPC, CTR and Page Impressions per visitor (PIV)? For example, if you have an EPC of $.30, a CTR of 3%, and PIV of 10, then at $.05 per visitor you pay Adwords the following will be your expected profit per 1000 impressions:

- 1000 impressions generate (EPC x CTR x 1000) = $9
- 100 Visitors generate (100 x PIV) = 1000 Impressions
- @ a cost of (100 x $.05) = $5

- Profit is $4 per 1000 impressions or 100 visitors... not bad.

That is one way to see if it's worth it or not, just plug in your values.

Im promoting adsense in Findwhat and in Goclick and it quites good. This is much cheaper in Overture and in Adwords in my case.
