Ok, so the past few months I've been feeling a little left out because I've heard from people in here getting their greeting cards and little thumbdrives for christmas. Yesterday mine came in the mail, and allthough about 2 1/2 months late it's better late than never..

But something else happened today.. another kind of christmas present, a much better one!
I have had all those PSA's all winter, only 3-4 site wide advertisers and a very low CPC as a result.
So today i wake up, and the amount of ads is just incredible, maybe 20-30 new advertisers in just the last 8 hours I've spent sleeping. So what can you make of that? I run a quite large "outdoors summersport"-kind of web site -- I dont want to get paranoid, but is Google holding back the seasonal recreational sites during the winter maybe? I have made no changes to my content at all. Certainly I find it hard to believe 20-30 new AdWords advertisers just signed up in the last 8 hours!

Just thought i'd tell you about this in case someone else had seen anything like it, or had any clues about what was going on.
Needless to say I'm very happy!

It's a good thing Google didn't send you a box of Omaha Steaks for Christmas if your gift arrived just now. :-)

I don't think Google is "holding back" ads for summer-recreation advertisers. The advertisers simply don't bid on ads year-round. For what it's worth, I've had a huge increase in AdSense revenues on my European travel site since the first of the year, but I've also had a big increase in affiliate bookings. Some topics (travel especially) are quite seasonal. I usually book most of my revenues from January through mid- to late summer, with a decline in early fall and a big slump in November and December. I've seen that pattern every year since 1997, so I was looking forward to the end of Christmas break while everyone else in my family was enjoying the holidays. :-)
