Stop Words

What are they?

I have seen stop words mentioned in several posts. Is there a published list of stop words? And does google have a published policy on what is and is not acceptable where these words are concerned?

Any help in this area is appreciated!-)

Google hasn't released one. But most of them are just common sense words that would obviously be filtered. It does seem to be weighted, at least to a certain extent.
