Adsence on sub domains?

I have an opportunity.

So here is the situation. I have a friend that has a site. Nice little niche site, good content, page rank of six. I convinced him to look into Adsence to get some cash flow from his site. The problem is that his site is of the ht*p://www.example.com/~hissite/ variety and so he wasn't able to sign up. He offered to let me run my adsence code on there and keep the income. (he is a nice guy) Are there any issues with running adsence on a subdomain such as this?

As long as it is on a subdomain like that, you can't run AdSense. And taking a chance at putting your own AdSense code on a site like that, particularly one that has already been declined, is pretty risky. Chances are, the domain has been blocked anyway, so it won't be able to show AdSense ads. And PR doesn't make any difference when it comes to running AdSense.

If either of you want to monetize it, invest in a domain name and some hosting. Nearly all publishers earn enough in a month to cover that, and most earn much more.

Well the url wasn't so much as denied as much as it wasn't accepted. He says that the sign up page stated something to the effect of "please enter only the root" But if it is cut and dried that sub domains are a no go then i will accept it. I did try the adsence tester (found else where in the forums) and it did show pretty targeted adds to what is on the page. I looked through the TOS and guidelines and so on and found no statement in regards to sub domains.

It is in the TOS regarding legal ownership of the domain. Because it is on his ISP's domain, he does not have legal ownership of the domain, or legal authorization for it.

I think this rule is primarily because some free hosts and ISPs are running AdSense across all sites hosted on their domain, in order to monetize the space they are giving away for free.

Some have run AdSense on these kinds of sites (when they have prior approval for AdSense from another domain) and have then been told to remove AdSense from these sites unless they can prove ownership.

Bingo, Thanks Jenstar that was just the authentication i needed. I guess i will just have to go with a link from his site to my site where i am running adsence. I will be the sole outlink from that PR 6 site, sure will do me allot of good. Thanks again Jenstar.
