My site is a portal type site. I don't put adsense on my home page, since I think highly content targeted ads on subpages will interest more my visitors, thus leading to high CTR. Once I experimented puting adsense on homepage, although CPM increased but CTR got diluted and I didn't see an increase in earning.

What do you think?

Newbies:

I think that the decision of putting adsense on the homepage should be made solely on whether or not you have an alternative that pays more than adsense.

If you read EuropeForVisitors's post about effective CPM, I think you will get a good idea of how you should approach this.

You don't get paid for CTR. You get paid for total clicks. If you're giving up clicks to get a higher CTR, you're throwing money away.
