After having a stellar day today (Saturday) I boasted to my wife that we probably haven't had many days with as high of a click-thru rate as we've had today. Just for fun I ran an AdSense report by date for the past year and then sorted by CTR. As turns out, today is the 8th highest day we've had in the past year for CTR, but I also noticed that the top 20 days are all on weekends.

I think I have a pretty good idea why this is, but just to verify that what I'm seeing is normal, if anyone is interested, please run the report and post if you see similar results, and your guess as to what is so special about the weekends which makes AdSense ads so much more irresistible to visitors. Any suggestions for how to get this to carry over into the weekdays would be great too.

i ran my report going back to when my site went online in January.
tuesdays and wednesdays are my highest CTR days, and in the top 20 there is only ONE Sunday, and no saturdays..

i guess it depends on your niche/subject..

Started with AdSense mid April 2006.

In my case:

Today is my second highest CTR day (not by far earnings day, but CTR)

My top three days are two Saturdays and a Sunday, however again, not the highest earnings day, but the highest CTR. No idea why, but I have less visitors and page impressions on the weekends, but SOME days I have higher CTR.

For what its worth, my CTR tends to go up at weekends and traffic drops. Unfortunately the CTR gain doesn't outweigh the traffic drop and consequently my earnings drop too.

There is a theory going round that people window shop on the net at work during the week, then purchase at the weekend from their home computer.

Out of my top 20 daily CTR since February 14 are a Saturday or Sunday.

About half of my high CTR days are weekends, but contrast that with the highest earning days - virtually all weekdays.

I think in my case it's due to the increased volatility of the weekends due to lower impression totals.
For instance, not only does the weekend hold 40% of the 20 highest ctr days, it also holds 40% of the lowest CTR days.

What I did find interesting is that ALL of my highest ctr days fell between mid January and late april of this year.
What I foun disturbing is that half of my lowest ctr days have been since June 1, 2006 :(
