Safe way to follow Adsense ad URL's?

I want to filter some sites

Currently, if I want to follow an AdSense ad to see the advertising site, I right click on the ad link and copy the link location. Then I extract the target URL from the Google tracking link and plug that into my browser's address bar, to avoid clicking on my own ads.

1) This is a cumbersome
2) There is the obvious danger of accidentally left clicking.

Is there a tool or safer and easier way to follow the URL's on an Adsense ad, so I check the advertisers site for possible filtering?

Thanks.

androidtech, you can download the AdSense Preview Tool -- and find out more about it -- here:

I recently had to find the advertiser URL using firefox, and I was able to extract it by clicking on the "Ads by Google" link and looking in the address bar.

androidtech, it may not be safe to use the method you describe.

If Google use the URL itself to measure that someone has followed one of their ads, then simply copying the URL into the address bar will look exactly the same to Google as if you'd clicked the link itself.

The only safe way to explore the ads that may appear on your site is to use the AdSense Preview tool. I have been told by Google that clicking the ads in the preview box is perfectly acceptable, as they don't trigger commission.

Thanks loganz and AdSenseAdvisor, I'll use the Preview tool.

UserFriendly, I always extracted out just the target site URL from the long "click" URL, so that couldn't happen. I'll be using the Preview tool now.

I do the same thing with getting the url from the link address. The problem with the preview tool is when I use it I get ads that normally run on the site and not the offending scammy ad. Sometimes I can catch them with the preview tool but it is few and far between.
