Adsense and Amazon Recommended Product Links - are these allowed on the same page? I've emailed G but no response yet...also would like to know if amazon product previews can be used along with adsense...seen a thread on this here but cannot find a definitive answer-

Depends on if it's the contextual Amazon links or not. They deffinitely aren't allowed, but the non-contextual Amazon ads are.

Amazon has contextual links?

Amazon recommeded product links ARE contextual!

"Recommended Product Links are dynamic links in which Amazon automatically selects and serves the content. You enter the type of products you want displayed, and we will update them with the bestselling products based on your criteria. Since Amazon automatically updates these links with fresh content, there is less work on your part to keep your links and banners updated."

I clarified the position on having these on the same page as adsense, and it was a deffinite NO from Google

Whoa. Hold on. Contextual, in our context, means the ad supplier looks at the page to customize the ads corresponding to the page content.

Amazon Recommended Products ads CAN be contextual, but since you also do specify a category or keyword you want the ads to reflect, you can opt out of the ads being contextual, by emailing Amazon and requesting it. When you've opted out of being contextual, the Amazon ads simply reflect the category or keyword you specified. Those kind of Associate ads were always allowed by G.

The last time this was asked by someone on this forum of G, they confirmed you can combine Amazon Recommended Products ads with Adsense on the same page if you've opted out of the Amazon contextual option.

More info on opting out: Here is the text on the page on Amazon where you actually set up a Recommended Product ad:

Note: You may notice a wider variety of products displayed in Recommended Product Links after you place them on your Web site. We are testing ways to help you earn more by changing the way we select products for these placements -- such as using Amazon technology to recommend items similar to those you have referred in the past or to select products related to your Web page content. The goal of these changes is to increase the number of clicks and resulting purchases originating from your links. However, please be aware that products may be displayed that are not related to your site or content. If you prefer for your links to not be included in this test, please contact us. Be sure to let us know whether you're using keywords or a subcategory.

...and "contact us" is a link to their feedback page.

Thanks for the further clarification on these, but looking again at the Amazon site, I might have been confusing these links with the new "self optimising Links" currently in Beta. These are a deffinite no-no, but AFAIK the ads where you select a category are OK to put alongside adsense, as they always have been.

Got the response from G - said that you can use amzn ads with adsense as long as they are not contextual
