Good News Thread

Please Post Your Good News, Many Of Us Could Use Some Inspiration...

There has been much negative energy in the forum for the past few months. I have seen many threads about falling earnings, made for adsense sites, bad quality advertisers, (fear of) being banned, etcetera. And now there is the Little Devil (algo) update and we don't know what that will bring upon us.

Although all these problems are real, and should be discussed in order to deal with them, we also need good news to inspire us. Therefore I ask you folks to bring in some good stuff to inspire the rest of us. Did your earnings climb for the past few months? Did you start a new website that generates good cash? Did you use your Adsense money to buy something great lately? Were you able to help out someone else with your Adsense money? Please bring in the good news!

My good news is that my earnings have recovered after a complete downfall starting in january. After the Christmas season, nobody was interested in my winter widgets anymore. To anticipate on the seasons I started building a site about summer widgets in february. After going online in may my earnings went up again!

I am now working on 2 new websites:

- one about blue widgets that are very popular among the filthy rich;

- the other about how to make these blue widgets yourself when you are on a low budget.

The idea is to make two entirely different websites, targeting 2 different audiences, while writing about the same blue widgets.
Since I love these blue widgets myself it is so much fun to write about them, take pictures of them and interview people about them...

Even if this idea inspired you for one second you made my day;-)

Good news?

Some people had been running behind me on a fair.

2 people running after me pulled me to their booth on a fair pleasing me to write further articles about their widgets.

I visited the same fair last year and wrote about them already last year.

My good news is that I treat AdSense as a bonus. If I make some money from it, all well and good. If not, then I move on to something else.

Pushing panic buttons when AS is not available, or seeing CTR or eCPM rise or drop, and then having heart failure, is not a solution to well being :-)

Apart from running websites, I have two other businesses, and AS is such a minor part of total income that I treat it with respect, but it doesn't rule my life!

My good news is: I have stopped worrying as I have more than adequate income (for me), I am much too old to really care and what I plan to do....not build websites now but wait for the delivery van to bring my shiny new 3 wheel trike and start peddeling around the neighborhood to get some much needed exercise. :)

The good news is...

My grass is turning green again with all this east cost rain.

And, I don't have to go out and work because adsense allows me to lay in bed, warm and cozy.

Did you use your Adsense money to buy something great lately?

Not great but essential.

My financial accounts were SO FAR behind I hired someone to bring them all up-to-date, reclaim a load of VAT (purchase tax) and get my self-assessment (personal taxation) completed (nothing to pay!).

AdSense earnings so far this year have increased over last year YTD. For the second year in a row I have a good surplus of cash and am currently shopping for a significant asset in order to expand the depth and breadth of my on line business. This should not only increase revenues but make facets of my "work" much more enjoyable. I am 6 years from retirement wishing it was 16 or 60 away. I love my "job"...

I have picked up a few new clients for my SEO business and reached a comfortable volume of daily work. Word of mouth from some of my existing site owners brought them in. It is nice to work for clients who have sought me out and asked me to help them. It makes for a very pleasant working relationship. Life is good.

Good news:

In June 2006 I managed to drop AdSense's share of my earnings to only 50% with direct advertisers, sort of peace of mind investment. Crossing my fingers for the next 6 months to continue the same.

Also -said earlier- I bought meself a motorbike :-)

Off topic: I once saw this french guy on tv and he was completely idolized by cheese. He made it, he ate it, he studied it and every conversation he started about any subject allways ended up with cheese. The guy seriously thought that if all people would eat more cheese, there would be no more war! There you got your good news!

2 Banks denied me Home Loan because I am not doing a job(It does not matter to them that I may be earning 10-20 times now what if I was doing a job for some one else)...
I also don't have any company registered in my name so they just consider me much like a unemployed person!

I originally thought that I would just do adsense to make enough money to pay for my professionally hosted server.

My good news is I do that, but I also now have enough money saved up in my site advertising account to be able to pay for the moving expenses to move to someplace nicer, and also make a very nice downpayment on a new vehicle.

The Good news: Regardless of the horrific whining you may read in certain forums, I have absolute and incontrovertible proof(1) that Google still rewards good content and clean SEO produced by a single individual(2) even though the largest companies on the internet may be doing everything they can to out-rank you. As of today, 6/25/06, the net is STILL a level playing field.

(1) in the form of five-figure monthly checks.
(2) in bedroom #2, wearing a bath robe, sunglasses and sipping gin & tonic.

Like fredw, my goal when I started using AdSense was just to make enough to cover my hosting costs.

At this point, I'm making enough to fund several expansions to the site, begun the work on two new sites, and well on my way to funding an extensive research trip (will also be quite fun) that will lead to yet another site.

My good news is: I tried AdSense for the second time. First time my main site was a few months old and I made pennies. Now that my site is 3 years old. I decided in April to give it a try again.

With very little work on my part, I placed ads (tried several different formats and colors), and in May I earned enough to buy us a beautiful new refrigerator. AdSense is not my only income, so I think of it as a bonus. Of course it is a bonus I hope continues and grows and yes, it worries me when it declines for awhile, but overall, it's been very helpful and like frosting on my cake!

My wife and I started a home catering biz a couple of years ago when the company I worked for went bust. It was really tough at first, but I had the presence of mind to build a couple of websites and joined the Adsense program...

Most of you in the U.S or Europe will not fully appreciate the impact that Adsense income has on a family's budget in other parts of the world. One U.S Dollar equals RM4 where I am and on what I earn with adsense monthly, I can cover my credit card bills and car and loan repayments!

What good has Adsense done for me?

- gave me a supplemental source of income when we first started our catering biz
- gave me the option of working at home and being with my kids.
- IS giving me hope that I give my family nice things and a good future.
- I am so very hopeful because I have only just begun and already Adsense is very lucrative for me.

I hope Adsense lasts for a long time...at least until I get my Ferrari... ; )

Well barring a bizzare collapse in the figures over the next few days I have my first $3000 month, just a few months after the first $100 day and a little over a year since starting.
Costs for me are high (but constant) so actual returns so far are still not fantastic but a growth has been as near to a straight line as you can get, i'm more that happy with where things are going :)

Thanks to a relatively stable Adsense income over the last 1,5 years I have been able to diversify my business to an extend where I can treat Adsense as a bonus (still 40% of my income though). I have always treated Adsense as a temporary thing. It simply kept me from taking loans from the sharks at the bank...
