Fixed Width v Expandable Pages

Anyone tried both versions with definite results?

I have used auto-expandable (fluid) pages for the past 7-8 years however I wondered if anyone has experienced/converted to/experimented with either method and if it had improved, worsened their AdSense earnings, or remained the same, for exactly the same information?

If it did increase earnings, which was the better for you and have you any idea why?

Has anyone ever done an AdSense study about this with statistical information/results?

Keep your layout tight if you can. The closer elements of a page are the high the chance of a click through. That can also happen with fluid widths but the results are in general and from looking at the most successful sites better for fixed width layouts.

I converted from a fluid layout (with a 3rd col skyscraper) to a fixed width layout with a leaderboard in the hotspot. It more or less doubled CTR and eCPM.

(with a 3rd col skyscraper)

Did you only have the skyscraper prior to conversion or the skyscraper and leaderboard?

Did you keep the skyscraper after conversion?
