I don't know if this has been posted before, but has anyone put AdSense in an image? No, I'm not talking about image AdSense ads, but someone actually putting Adsense into a jpg image.

Hi StuntasticAudi,

That is what I am asking. Is it possible to modify the jpg image to put AdSense into it?

Don't understand the question, but I do understand that you can't alter the Google javascript code in any way, shape or form. Google want the ads to show in a very specific way. Therefore I'd say that even if it's possible it would more than likely be against the TOS.

No, I would not be altering the Google javascript code in any way, shape or form. Just trying to find out how to have AdSense appear in a jpg image.

You can always take a screen grab of course, but if you mean having actual live ads served within a .jpg image, then that's very impossible.

Hi Jomaxx,

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, that is what I am looking for (having actual live ads served within a .jpg image). So how do I go about doing it?

Dan, did you read all the way to the end of my post? It was only one sentence.

Sorry, I missed the 'im' part of impossible.

Let me expand on the topic and explaion what I am trying to do. People have 'borrowed' images from my web site and put them on other web sites. They have copied the link to my website and are driving traffic to my server. What I would like to do is embed AdSense into those .jpg images so that the ads are served on their website. Can it be done?

No! Absolutely impossible.

But you could have lots of fun changing the images (making sure you keep the same file name of course).

if you are talking about people hotlinking your images, i would suggest you run a anti-hotlinking script. if you are talking about sites like google image, where people search through for pictures, you can always implement a frame busting script

What? For what purpose would you want to embed Adsense into an image? Wouldn't it be the same? It's not only pointless, but also impossible.

I kind of thought that's what you had in mind. It's just as well you can't do it, because you ALSO agreed to a TOS that says you can't show your ads on any third-party sites without explicit permission.

Thats impossible to do. the only thing i can see someone doing is creating a table with an image background and putting adsense in that table but adsense's background can't be transparent so it would look weird anyways unless you match up the background color of adsense with the background color in your table.

I can't come up with an AdSense-related solution for you, but here's what you can do when people put your images on their pages and keep them hosted on your site.

Upload a duplicate of the image in question, with a different name. Change your site's code so the image appeares with the new name. Now your site appears as it always has, but the old picture has a new name. Now create a new image, the same size as the pirated image, and upload it with the same name as the stolen one. Be creative. Anything you put in that image will appear on the theif's site.

I did this to a guy that copied and pasted my site's text into his eBay auction, complete with an image off of one of my pages. I did what I described above, and while what I made his auction say is not something I'd repeat here, I can promise you that when he (or anyone) saw it, it must have been one hell of a shock.

Where it's a nice idea (I also have this problem) I don't think it's possible. Your best bet is a anti-hotlinking script.

car_guy > a better way is to edit your htaccess.. because repeat visitors who come back to your site might see the objectional image because your site is stored in cache still.

Thanks for mentioning that. Here's a start:
