Last night I went ahead and deleted all my unused and inactive channels that I no longer use (but sometimes show up when some visits my site stored in cache). And my cpc definately went up, my ecpm is stable now without too much of a drop as the day progresses.

So far today I am at around the same traffic and ctr as usual but I have doubled earnings.

Im not sure if thats just a coincidence, but just wanted to see what everyone else thinks about it.

I posted this in the tips thread because i didn't see yours. Sorry.
-------------
Just on a hunch I just tried something that I got immediate results with.

I was checking my stats and channels and decided to delete a URL to one of my sites that no longer have adsense on it as well as one unused page on the main site. I had left them in there 'just in case'.

I went back to the reports page as soon as I deleted and found a 28 cent upward change in epcm! I believe ctr MAY have went up but not sure about that as I was focusing on ecpm. Wow, that was fast! Nothing else changed, income or clicks, impressions, etc. I hope I have hit on something else to help me and maybe help others as well.

If you are going to do this be sure you have downloaded all the stored data for those channels first.

AFAIK channels are used for reporting only, in which case there would be no mechanism for updating channels to have any effect on ad targeting or CPC.

Perhaps not but I saw what I saw.

How did it help you if it didn't affect your income?

For that matter, how did it increase your eCPM if it didn't affect your impressions OR income?

Because it was there for most of the reporting for the day so we'll see what happens during the course of today. :)

well of course ecpm is going to raise because ecpm is averaged from all the used channels. and when you get rid of the unused low ecpm channels, your ecpm will average out to whatever is left.

yesterday i got a 25% increase in earnings total, probably just coincidental however.

hi everybody
thanks for all this info
i'm new in google adsnse
when i have been accepted, i just through ads all over my site, and ofcourse some pages recieved a very week clicks.
so the quisition is
- does number of ads on each page affect earning or specilly earning per click, and how?

-does week pages affect the eaarning of the active pages? i see u said yes but i can't understand how? is it calculated for every page seperatly or the overall account.
for an example if two persons have similar websites and they show ads for a specified web site, does google will pay more (for the same click) because he has no another week pages?

- also if i have a page with week vistors? say (10 vistors) but 8 of them click on my ad? is it active or to be active it should has also high trafic?
