Multiple ad units displaying duplicate ads

3 ad units on a page, but some ads repeat

I have a few pages with 3 ad units on it, in different places. No frames, but the third ad unit displays just under the content as the result of a search (it's a type of events calendar). Sometimes I get fewer ads in some of the ad units (which is okay) but sometimes I get the exact same ad in two different ad units. Is that normal? Doesn't seem like that should be happening.

I'm the only one that this is happening to?

Hi,

That sometimes happens to me too, and I've explicitly asked AS support about it a couple of times, and they've said "that sometimes happens, don't worry", so I don't.

(In the real world, sometimes an ad will be repeated over and over, eg on an escalator, as a way of rising above the noise, so this repeating is not necessarily bad for the advertiser.)

Note that this effect seems more likely if one or more of your ad units appears in an iframe, mainly because it makes it harder for G's server to track what has already been served to your page as it may see the ad-unit requests concurrently and/or out of order.

Thanks. No iframes here; I figured it was because of the third ad unit only showing when the results are pulled out of the database, and it pulls up the same page with the results on it, so it might not look like a refresh. Doesn't seem very efficient, and the last week or so I seem to be getting a LOT of dupes. Maybe I need to remove one of the ad units.
