A good news thread for a change :)

I started adsense originally to pay for my web hosting back in January 2004. Things started well for me, and have continued to get better and better. I never expected to do anything other than pay for the hosting, so what happened was a nice surprise :).

I just wanted to share how I spend the cash, and am hoping others will add what they spend their money on out of the adsense income they never really expected to get when they signed up.

Last year we took the family on two holidays in the summer. We spent a couple of weeks in Crete, and a week in the UK.

This year adsense has replaced my wife's income from her part time job, and we (me, wife, kids) are off to the south of France and Spain for a couple of weeks.

So what about others - any positives to add?

Wish you a relaxing and inspiring vacation. Nice to see that you can pay it using your Adsense earnings. Have a good time!

This is good to hear. The first 4 months on adsense made very less for me. But I saw the potential and got working on my website. Worked all through last month and launched the new features in the last week of May. Traffic has shot through the roof and in the 5 days of this month I have already made what I did in the whole of last month :)

Will continue to work on the site this month and next and hopefully my earnings by then will be enough for me to take a good 10-15 days vacation which I hope to do every 3 months. I wouldn't have imagined this before I got on to adsense.

Congratulations, David. Well done.

Don't forget to bring Sun protection to Spain as it is damned hot over here ;)

One of these days (or years as the Adsense track is going for me, heh...) I'll visit Scotland.

First year with Adsense: I just paid my hosting (50.000 visits this may). No that I wanted anything more. Who knows what the future will bring? Just about to start migrating the site to Drupal to enhance management and retrieval of content.

Dave

Well done!

Hope you have a wonderful time. It is well deserved.

So far, Adsense is paying much for me in fact I just had to cancel my holiday as I can't afford to go.

I will keep plugging away though because it is experiences like yours that keep me inspired and prove that earnings are achievable.

When you are laying by the beach think of me LOL

Congratulatiuons again.

Congratulations David_uk

I went to Florida for 3 weeks in April/May and Adsense paid for mine too.

Mine was started just to monetize my site, which had been established for a long time, but without a specific goal in mind.

The goals now are to pay for a holiday once or more a year, and to invest for my son's University education (14 years away though that... :))

Have a good trip David. The weather in Spain looks wonderful, especially in the coastal areas, so have fun!

Just returned from Greece myself. Guess what great Internet company made it possible?

any positives to add?

Good for you David, have fun

AdSense (aka my web site) is pretty much paying for everything for me and my family, the last fun thing I did was buy myself a motorcycle for fun.

I am off to Europe, for four weeks, next Friday. The trip and is thanks to Adsense and affiliate programs. I went away last year to europe for four weeks also and one of the best things is to be laying on a beach or getting pissed in a nightclub and knowing that people are clicking away all day and night.

Enjoy your trip David :)

My adsense just about pays for all the cigerettes and coffee I consume making my sites, so I guess I'm breaking even. Have fun on your holiday... send me a postcard

Try to spend as little time as possible in Internet Cafes checking your site/stats, and enjoy yourself.

My site brings in enough to pay my rent and bills whilst holding down a full time job, so I know what a blessing it can be.

Short term effort, long term gain.

Congratulations David,
It's always inspiring to hear positive stories.

My Adsense income has also reached a point where I can replace my wife's income. My wife works for an absolute dog of an employer (a major Australian bank) She is a very hard worker with an impeccable work ethic and deserves much better than the abuse and crap she is subjected to. Now we have new industrial relations laws passed by our government in Australia, so this employer is certainly the last employer anyone would want to work for.

I have been trying to convince my wife to leave this job for a while now. Not being a risk taker, she has been very reluctent to fall back on my income as I am self employed. However, now with the additional Adsense income and the fact that we are expecting our first child she has seen the light and is planning her exit date from her current position.

Thanks for the good wishes, and I hope to see a few other good uses of adwords cash posted.

Congrats David,

I am glad to hear it. Have loads of fun!

I was gonna take a vacation in the country but bought a home out here in the middle of the woods with very few neighbors instead.

Also just bought (already delivered and installed) a beautiful black and silver Kenmore range and Broan range hood. Been trying to decide on a new refrig all night but can't find one I REALLY like :) so I will look again tomorrow. Of course a new dishwasher will accompany that.

Guess who bought me all these wonderful things? :)
