I started adsense originally to pay for my web hosting back in January 2004. Things started well for me, and have continued to get better and better. I never expected to do anything other than pay for the hosting, so what happened was a nice surprise :).
I just wanted to share how I spend the cash, and am hoping others will add what they spend their money on out of the adsense income they never really expected to get when they signed up.
Last year we took the family on two holidays in the summer. We spent a couple of weeks in Crete, and a week in the UK.
This year adsense has replaced my wife's income from her part time job, and we (me, wife, kids) are off to the south of France and Spain for a couple of weeks.
So what about others - any positives to add?
Will continue to work on the site this month and next and hopefully my earnings by then will be enough for me to take a good 10-15 days vacation which I hope to do every 3 months. I wouldn't have imagined this before I got on to adsense.

Don't forget to bring Sun protection to Spain as it is damned hot over here ;)
One of these days (or years as the Adsense track is going for me, heh...) I'll visit Scotland.
First year with Adsense: I just paid my hosting (50.000 visits this may). No that I wanted anything more. Who knows what the future will bring? Just about to start migrating the site to Drupal to enhance management and retrieval of content.
Well done!
Hope you have a wonderful time. It is well deserved.
So far, Adsense is paying much for me in fact I just had to cancel my holiday as I can't afford to go.
I will keep plugging away though because it is experiences like yours that keep me inspired and prove that earnings are achievable.
When you are laying by the beach think of me LOL
Congratulatiuons again.
I went to Florida for 3 weeks in April/May and Adsense paid for mine too.
Mine was started just to monetize my site, which had been established for a long time, but without a specific goal in mind.
The goals now are to pay for a holiday once or more a year, and to invest for my son's University education (14 years away though that... :))
Enjoy your trip David :)
My Adsense income has also reached a point where I can replace my wife's income. My wife works for an absolute dog of an employer (a major Australian bank) She is a very hard worker with an impeccable work ethic and deserves much better than the abuse and crap she is subjected to. Now we have new industrial relations laws passed by our government in Australia, so this employer is certainly the last employer anyone would want to work for.
I have been trying to convince my wife to leave this job for a while now. Not being a risk taker, she has been very reluctent to fall back on my income as I am self employed. However, now with the additional Adsense income and the fact that we are expecting our first child she has seen the light and is planning her exit date from her current position.

Good news about the baby! That'll change a few things for you ;)
I am glad to hear it. Have loads of fun!
I was gonna take a vacation in the country but bought a home out here in the middle of the woods with very few neighbors instead.
Also just bought (already delivered and installed) a beautiful black and silver Kenmore range and Broan range hood. Been trying to decide on a new refrig all night but can't find one I REALLY like :) so I will look again tomorrow. Of course a new dishwasher will accompany that.
Guess who bought me all these wonderful things? :)
