Google advertising the AdSense program

"Unleash the potential revenue of your website" is the catch line with a quote from WiFinder, one of the Google AdSense case studies.

In my travels online, I haven't seen any real marketing effort by Google AdSense other than what they offer at www.google.com/adsense/ - I would guess that the majority of publishers are coming into AdSense through word of mouth (ie WebmasterWorld, word of mouth, blogs, etc) and by surfers seeing AdSense ads on a site and investigating what it was.

They could also be ramping up their advertising campaign as new competors are being launched and are about to be launched.

I can't post a link, since it is a commercial site, and the clickthroughs are being tracked for Google's marketing efforts, but I thought it was interesting that they are now engaging in other methods of advertising to recruit new publishers to AdSense.

Has anyone else seen AdSense ads such as these? Or have I been suffering from ad-blindess and have missed them for months ;)

Well, aside from "Ads by Google" on pretty much every adsense box out there I have not seen any ads for it :)

Yeah I have seen AdSense's 120x600 Banner Ad :)

there are ads for it in the adwords.google.com page

and on random rotation on free themed google sitesearch result pages.

NS, yep, that's the one I've seen. I'd seen the destination page somewhere in the last few weeks, but can't recall where - it just might have been in Adwords I saw it.

They have been running a large square banner on a tech news site I read for well over a month. They have featured some of the sites that they use as case studies and they have a picture of a person on them.

There is a two page AdSense ad in Inc. Magazine this month. This is the first time I have seen it in print. They are obviously stepping up the ad campaign. I wonder if this has anything to do with the growing likelyhood that competition is on the horizon.

There is also a two page ad (covering the bottom half of the page) when I flipped back through my Jan issue of Entrepreneur. Then it dawned on my that was where I had seen the ad before, as it uses the same person as the one I saw online.

I wonder how many other offline markets they targeted. It is traditionally a lean time for entrepreneurs at this time of year, since many are still paying off bills from the holidays and there tends to be less money going around. This could definitely be an incentive for entrepreneurs to check our AdSense to see how they could make money from Google.
