Eurovision Song Contest Traffic Dip

Are we prepared for the traffic blip downwards?

As we know the Eurovision Song Contest happens at 8pm GMT tonight. Millions upon millions of people will be watching it. So are we prepared for the dip in earnings whilst it's on, and who will be the first to post a "My stats have dipped" thread?

I'll be sat there with my crate of beer. As an ardent fan of the annual jamboree I love it, but can't watch it sober!

Royaume-Uni - Nil points.

Ahhh - Greece will give Cyprus 12 - Cyprus will give Greece 12 etc etc.

>>>I'll be sat there with my crate of beer.

That is probably the best (only?) way to get through it :)

biggest event? hmmm... I preffer the oscars instead of eurovision. Especially this years oscars :-D with Jon Stewart.

Anyway, there are some countries that shouldn't compete this year. For ex. croatian "Stikla" by Severina.

it's... catastrophic and unbelieveable.

But, to be on topic, I don't think that earning are going to "dip".

Dip? What Dip? I am looking for an increase!

People will LOVE to look for travel advice on and photos from Finland once the Fins have won the contest. Maybe only to see where these guys actually come from, and whether it is safe to go there... ;-)

>>>The Eurovision WHAT?

Indeed - I guess for you - you have a similar stance to us when people start talking about the Soup Bowl - or whatever it is called.

Soup Bowl never effected my traffic.

To prevent this thread from being moved to the foo or comunity forums, someone quickly post last years stats on the expected % drops in ctr ecpm epc ...

This should not affect the USA though. Most people here will not be watching it, at least not me.

Pleased to advise an increase in both CTR and eCPM with a reasonable Saturday's earnings...just like the Soup Bowl:-))

Well I am in Ibiza, Spain, and we have been invited to a BBQ tonight, followed by the EV song contest. Now, something tells me there is more I should be doing on a Meditteranean island with sun, sea and ......!
Hey ho....gotta keep the family happy :-((
..and it's in Spanish...but a few glasses of wine should do the trick!...or maybe a noose and the nearest tree!

Who's going to win then?

Belgium's babe or Finland's 1980's rock monsters?

Not expecting a downturn. If 20M watch it, that's still 35M or so folk in the UK who could be surfing, even allowing for the 10M or so who'll be down the pub ;)

On Lordi, Lordi, Lordi...looks as though Das' babes will have to do instead!

Haven't seen the Ukrainians dressed in black leather though, that should be good...:-)

a whole month of low earnings.

I don't understand the rationale of this.

Sure, it's on for 5 weeks however for a maximum of two matches per day at very convenient times to watch (for me working from home) with plenty of time either side of the matches for those "slacking" to do their Internet bits.

Meanwhile all those not interested will be typing away taking advantage of the computer not being dominated by whomsoever...

Equal and opposite reactions and all that:-)

Certainly our 2002 traffic logs showed no major discernible loss of traffic during the qualifying rounds nor during the latter stages.

I do not have the logs for 1998, such was my great filing system at that time I think they're on a ZIP disk somewhere.

The American Idol finale is next Tuesday and Wednesday which should be the biggest TV event in the U.S. since the Super Bowl.

Sometimes I wish my life was simple enough to care for eurovision. But most of the time I don't though ;)
