Eurovision Song Contest Traffic Dip

Are we prepared for the traffic blip downwards?

As we know the Eurovision Song Contest happens at 8pm GMT tonight. Millions upon millions of people will be watching it. So are we prepared for the dip in earnings whilst it's on, and who will be the first to post a "My stats have dipped" thread?

I'll be sat there with my crate of beer. As an ardent fan of the annual jamboree I love it, but can't watch it sober!

Sometimes I wish my life was simple enough to care for eurovision.

Walkman, it's 11 at night here, and my eyes are getting a bit red and itchy. So at first, I was reading:

"Sometimes I wish my wife was simple enough to care for eurovision."

Victory! To think, there were suggestions in Finland that the public vote should be overturned by the President.

I do notice that my co.uk site seems to have had less traffic/earnings today.

I had a really crappy day yesterday, so it's difficult to say that the 300+ million people not clicking on Google ads was the reason.

I guess sites that have rock monsters dressed as Klingons and all about Fjords will do well in the next few days :)

OT side note:- I note on the CNN site that the event is going to replecated in the US. That's never going to work - Eurovision has never been about music, it's all about the voting!

Oh, and was the title of the thread changed? It is the biggest annual TV event on the planet. It's watched all over Europe, the Soviet block (Russia came second), and many other non-participating countries. I looked up the results on a Thai site, and looked at News items and commentary from Australia and NZ. The statement that it's the biggest TV event on the planet was accurate - just because it wasn't American there was no need to change the title.

Anf furthermore I must conclude that ECPM, CTR, MFA, blablabla...

1) actually, the same event has been held in the americas for over 20 years now although in spanish/portuguese language including all of central and south america as well as north america and Spain and Portugal, it's called "la festival del O.T.I." and follows the same format. :)
2) no offence intended but i don't think Poland, Bulgaria, Bielorusia etc would appreciate you talking about them as the soviet block seeing as it disintegrated 15 years ago ;)

On the other point, i have no idea why but after 6 months of constant poor results, my earnings jumped about 90 % last night at around 11pm CET and have continued today, strange.Traffic and cpm etc was constant as always.

Ahem, despite being the first to forecast Finland's Lordi would win..:-))

Lithuania should've been second, great chanting song...who's going to use that in the World Cup?

Compared to the month's average so far my Saturday figures were:

CTR +40.6%
eCPM + 45.8%

An "amazing" result as one would say in Athens.

I just hope the same happens during the Superbikes and World Touring Cars this afternoon!

I take great comfort from yesterday being a new record for a Saturday on our site. It means that our readership must be opposite the type of character that watches Eurovision.

Yo OptiRe,

Ahem, despite being the first to forecast Finland's Lordi would win...

Erm. I guess *I* was the first (in this thread) to forecast the impressive victory of those shock-rockers. Quote:

People will LOVE to look for travel advice on and photos from Finland once the Fins have won the contest.

So you were...congrats, maybe this is the start of getting some serious music introduced?

Next it will be rythym and blues (the original stuff youngsters!) maybe a bit of soul, they may even be able to make a proper song contest out of it with genuine musicians?

I still liked Lithuania's chant though, great stuff.

That might have been the thunder. I know my lights kept flickering, and it's always best to switch off before that happens.
