Is there any kind of rule against an AdSense block appearing in a screenshot of your site? Anybody know?

I hope somebody responds. I asked the same question 2-3 weeks ago and it went unanswered.

Maybe the reason for lack of a response in this usually talkative forum is that we simpy don't know the answer to that one!

The ads aren't clickable, so I would say that the answer may depend on how you plan on using it. If you are just showing a screen shot of your site for promotional purposes then I'd personally say it's OK. If you are using it to show visitors on another site what the ads look like so that they can click on them then that would be another issue.

I have a page on my site that tells potential advertisers where their banner will be if they purchase advertising from me. It shows just the top of the Google ad block, and I;ve never even thought that this might be an issue. To be honest I don't think it is or I'd have sought clarification.

Post back and let us know how you intend to use the screenshot and we'll try and give you feedback on the idea, but obviously it's down to Google not us to make the decision.

I'm going to have some screenshots of the same page but with different styles applied. The user will select the style he or she wants. AdSense units would appear in the shots, just because they're on the page.

I can't honestly see why they would object to this.

Google takes a cache of many of your pages, which is basically a screenshot, so I wouldn't even consider the issue if I wanted to do it.

I don't see a reason for Google to object either, though you can always just use the sample Google Ad block examples (for telescopes, unless that's changed lately) as that's how I had one designer doing some work for me toy around with the possibilities until we both found one that we agreed on.
