How do they perform, any comments?

Hello,

I am successfully using some ad unites and link units. Now I thought on certain places I could use picture ads only.

Are you using them? How do they perform? What eCPMs are you seeing from them?

Not all topics have enough image ads available to fill the ad spaces avaialable.

You might well be better off selecting "image and text". That way you'll get image ads when they are available and text ads the rest of the time. Otherwise I think you'll get PSAs when image ads are not available, not sure about that though.

Hi Erku --

Yes, your best bet is to opt into BOTH text and image ads. Opting into both text and image ads allows a wider pool of advertisers to compete to display on your site, therefore maximizing your revenue potential.

Our technology automatically detects the ad or combination of ads which will earn the most money, and displays this on your site.

Hope that explains,

ASA

ASA thanks very much. It was very nice of you to answer the question.

How do I know wether the image ads are eCPM based on CPC?

Thank you.

Hi there --

I recommend two AdSense blog posts for you.

The first one will show you how to view statistics for site targeted and contextual ads separately:

[adsense.blogspot.com...]

The second one just provides some additional facts about CPM ads:

Hope this helps,

Hi ASA,

Thanks for your prompt replies.

As we are trying to maximize and actually optimize our economic potential, we use one Text ads only, one Links unit, and tried to add the third unit which we made Images Only: the size is 468-60

However, It has already showed about 600-700 images and no single eCPM, no click. So I assume that the images that are shown on our site are not CPM based, but all of them are CPC. A lot of them are contextual, but sometimes you see things that are waaaaay of the topic.

I understand the limitations that Images Only have, but the problem is that in that space we would like to have only Images because the entier site is mainly content and with text and link units it's too much text which may effect the aesthetic beauty of the pages.

Should I write to Adsense and request that on my account they turn CPM based images only? Is there a such a thing?

I am sorry, I have not read your links yet, I am going to do them now.

ASA your links were very helpful and informative.

Is it possible that you give the publishers a choise in terms of image ads, wether they want CPM based on CPC?

Because in reality we know that not many people click on Images these days as they become more educated. Unless the ads may be EXTREMELY targeted and well positioned.

When we participate on On-site advertisement (I personally chose to opt out because of a drop in my overall eCPM) is it possible to make a price-floor? I believe that the publishers should be able to establish the minimum for their sites. At least large mid-size publishers who are serious about their businesses.

Thank you for your comments.

Hi Erku --

Apologies... I don't normally check the forums on the weekends, so just getting back into the Monday swing of things.

Right now, we don't have a CPM-only option although this is something we may consider in the future. I definitely recommend choosing both text and image ads if you can work it into your layout. This is the option that usually generates the highest eCPMs.

Many publishers have found that Rectangle ad formats, particularly, can produce very strong revenue results when integrated into the content of your site -- whether text or image ads appear. Again, if you can opt into text and image ads, this will produce the greatest revenue potential.

Additionally, you could select image-only, but run an alternate ad URL with a graphical ad of your choice.

Hope that helps,

ASA
