question a little vague but here goes:
An impression is when a visitor views a web page
An AD inpression, is when that page shows an ad (not the same)
A click is a click on an ad

What do you mean by "When the page shows an ad?"

Every time a visitor views a particular ad on one of your sites, that is an 'ad impression'. Every time a visitor clicks on one of those ads counts as a 'click'.

Your # of clicks divided by the number of ad impressions is your click-thru-ratio (CTR).

Make sense?
