After 6 months the bank are under no obligation to honour the cheque.
However, it generally will work on the validity of the company issuing the cheque - for their accounting records they usually impose a maximum period ( I believe it is 6months for google as others have stated). After the 6 months google would void the cheque so your bank, no matter which country would not honour the cheque because they would not be entitled to receive funds from google.
So the absolute max would be 6months which is long enough for anyone I would think as uncashed cheques do not earn you cash :P
