I was curious how I can get going making a full time income from AdSense.

Currently I run two websites. The first is just over a year old and I make about $250 a month in AdSense. I get about 10k visitors a month as well. I also started up a second site which I get about $0.15 a week ;) and I am starting to optimize it for SE's.

Now just with these two sites alone I barely have enough time to run them. I have a full time job and I do these sites on the side.

I was curious if anyone was in my situation before they started to make a full time income on AdSense. I'm curious how they started out, how many sites, how many hours a week on each site and how they were able to manage their time even though they had a full time job.

Is it possible for me to make a full time income on just advertising on my site? Also, should I start up a company that "Oversees" all my websites to make tax purposes easier?

I hope my question isn't too broad. I just want to know how to get going on making a living on advertising.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Wes

First from where are You.

$250 in Switzerland are nothing,
in a development country a nice begining for a high living standard.

Confused about the Switzerland remark!

Still, we know you're actually from Canada!

You'll see many threads that remark on relying on AdSense totally, and whether it is a good idea or not.

$250 a month [ Canadian or US ] is a good start, and gives you a foundation to develop upon, by building more content, more pages, and more space for adverts!

Thank you for your posts!

Yeah $250/month where I live isn't that much. ;)

I have been working hard on the one site and I'm going to start on the other. I know I really shouldn't depend on AdSense but I figure it would be good to get me going and then I can move into actual advertising by selling ad space on my site and in email blasts.

10k/month = $250 is a good number. I say keep working on it, and get more sites going, or expand your existing one .

I think it is a good idea.. Work from home .. No commuting problems.. No boss ;-) I am trying to reach this goal.

Where I live USD 1000 is upper middle class income and that is what I am aiming at. Then I will try to go higher.

Currently at 1/3 the target with almost same traffic as you .

I would think that if you want to make a full-time income from AdSense, you ought to be prepared to make it a full-time job. You will need all that time to create content, optimize traffic, police fraud, read WW, etc. In other words, it's your business; it's your job.

If I were wfernley, for the next while I would put my biggest focus on building traffic for the site that's already producing some income.

In my experience, work that builds traffic for existing sites is less management-intensive than adding more sites/pages just for the sake of churning out content.

Keep working on the second site as time and mood allow, but at least for now treat it as a "side dish", and keep the first site as the "main course".

Now just with these two sites alone I barely have enough time to run them.

What is it about your existing sites that make them time consuming? If you have a full time job then maybe you should focus on making sites that do not require a lot of ongoing maintenance.
