Navdeep,

Adsense actually has very little to do with web promotion. Its a service that allows you to display other peoples ads on your website. (Creating revenue for you)

I believe your reffering to Adwords this allows you to advertise through Adsense's network of publishers as well as googles search results and other mediums.

Hope that helps,

yes dony,
i read some text on this. they are clearly saying that becoming a member and displaying ads on the website doesn't mean that you will get good ranking in the search engine results. that will be based on the page rank technology only.

so i think it is not beneficial in terms of ranking at search engine and is just a way to earn some extra by displaying the ads.

but don't you think by displaying ads on the website, will increase link popularity, as i am displaying space for advertisements on my website. so other companies will think that google is advertising on my site. so they will also come to my site and will buy advertisement space.

this will also result in the link popularity of my website.

what do you think?

thanks for your reply

Theoretically, people could contact you because they know their ad is appearing on your site, but I wouldn't count on it as a way to improve your link popularity. I would consider it primarily a way to make some extra money by displaying AdSense on your site.

No, doesnt work like that...

Firstly the ads are served via a dynamic javascript include hosted by Google, so no spiders will ever be able to spider it very sucessfully.

Secondly if they could crawl that javascript they'd find links out which route via the Google AdWords tracking code - plus links out don't increase your link popularity.

Thirdly AdSense isn't that uncommon or exclusive and it serves AdWords content not adverts for Google - I severely doubt that anyone will see AdSense on your site and want to buy advert space on your site as a result.

hi Mr.Moderator,
yes i agree with your point but what else is a link popularity. website is linked to number of other websites that are displaying ads on the page so link is established between two sites and with the increase in number of links link popularity will increase.

am i right or not?

thanks for your reply.

hi dreamquik,
thanks for reply
i think google has mentioned that it will display the ads and there is a picture as an example.

this is the text from google.com about adsense

"Google AdSense™ is for web publishers who want to make more revenue from advertising but don't want to serve untargeted ads to their users.* Google solves this dilemma by delivering text-based Google AdWords™ ads that are relevant to what your readers see on your pages."

AdSense is javascript, in an iframe and is coded as a Google hoplink (ie. [googleadservices.com...] ) so advertisers are not getting a backlink from you either.

For publishers, AdSense is for earning income on a website.

For advertisers, it is for getting exposure, clickthroughs and conversions from displaying ads through content sites (AdSense).

If you are looking for backlinks, running AdSense is not the way to do it.

thanks all for replies,
so jenstar what you suggest, is it worth for a b2b trade site, to be a member of google ADSense and display their ads?
will it effect the original business in any way.

for clarification
b2b trade site means:business portal where product auctions and trade offers are carried out online.

thanks

My point was that you very rarely see adverts for Google on the system as they don't use AdSense to self-promote, instead you see AdWords advertisers because that's where they make the money.

The only place Google gets a mention on the AdSense material is the little byline that says "Ads by Google" which IMO isn't very prestigous.

I would suggest using AdSense as a way to make money showing ads (and some people can make a significant amount of money). That is what the program is designed for - displaying Adwords ads and giving a % of the revenue of each click to the publisher whose site generated the click.
