I have the following results (not exactly but roughly)

ad pageimpression cpm

ad1 56 $5
ad2 150 $1
ad3 150 $1

so i guess what i wanna ask is why is this so? is it possible that it's because of the low page impressions that is why the cpm is higher or is it the the cpm is independent of the page impressions?

ummm or to ask it in another way. the location with the highest cpm serves the least ads. why is that? oh and it is not because of the first ad thingy in the html. i ruled that out already.

It could be any number of possible causes. Some possibilities,

1) ad2 and ad3 are displaying lower-paying ads (higher paying ones are usually first on the page).
2) ad2 and ad3 are showing less relevant ads.
3) ad2 and ad3 are on pages that are not product or service related.
4) ad2 and ad3 are less visually attractive.

Hmm so it means that ad1 is showing more ads because it's more visually attractive?

This is certainly interesting because I always thought that as long as the code is placed in the top section of the html, it will serve the most ads or something.

By the way then, would CPM depend on the content that it is placed near to? Or would adsense actually capture the code of the whole page?

The trend seems to continue. The supposed most obvious ad embedded in the image does not seem to be displaying ads at all! Anyone else has any ideas?
