adsense not showing relevant ads

I started an informational website, and I have noticed something strange. I get non relevant ad's when I use www. infront of the domain name, and relevant ad's when www. is not present.

for example

[webmd.com...] - not relevant adsense ads

[webmd.com...] - relevant adsense ads

what could be the cause of this?

I am not a technical person, but from similar threads on the subject around here.... {too lazy to look for a link}. My understanding is that while most servers usually serve the same page for both www.root and root, this does not necessarily means that it has to be that way. Based on that and the fact that adsense has to spider each page individually to serve its own ads makes it reasonable that they would act this way.

I have found that it is better to keep all links similar {I think that mixing www.root and root is not a good idea anyway }
