How long are AdSense checks valid for?

Am considering holding onto my Adsense checks until the exchange rates improve.

Does anyone know if they have an 'expiration date' when you can no longer pay them in?

Usually, checks are valid for 90 days.

U.S. law makes a check invalid after six months. Firms can shorten this, but it must be stated on the check. If the check doesn't say anything, U.S. law would take over since the check is issued by a U.S. company.

Just because the check becomes void after six months doesn't mean that Google's obligation goes away. You would just have to ask Google to reissue the check. I'm not saying it would be an easy or short process, so your best bet is to deposit the check before the six months is up.

Instead of gambling, you could also do this:

Contact your local bank and open an account in US dollars, then cash your check and put the money on the dollar account. When exchange rates improve, you can transfer the money to your Euro account.

and in the mean time, the bank pays you interest ;-)

Yes, that's what I do. The Canadian dollar has gained alot of ground on the American over the past year. So, I opened up a U.S account and have been depositing my U.S checks in this account for the past year. As soon as the US dollar strengthens, I will transfer the US funds into my Canadian account.

I shed a tear whenever I have to convert US money to Canadian at the current exchange rate... especially when I look back a year, year and a half and see the rate I was getting.

I have also kept a lot of money in a US dollar account for the time being, but I doubt I'll be able to benefit from that. In my experience currency trends are driven by longterm trade issues and tend to last for years. Plus this mad cow business will probably drive the dollar even lower.
