Yes, you can earn "big bucks" with blogger. I run a website in a niche that has lowest paying clicks (about 15 cent in general) it something with jokes/games/puzzles, but good thing it get's big traffic!

Previously I've put big effort in writing prgramming lessons, worked day and night to make the website, advertized it all over the web, even got on digg main page... the licks were about 40 cent in general, and It didn't move from 3$ per day (good thing it's permanent now)..

Later I started this new website, which took no effort (about 30 seconds to do a new post entry), but the website in 2 weeks already got 100,000 unique visitors, and last fe days, about 2,000 visitors per hour... this is about 5,000 ad impressions per hour, 100,000 impressions per day... CTR about 1,5% wichi makes it earn more then 50$ per day....

So yes, it can be done, just make original website, good idea, refrsh it once a day, and what I found most important to add nice pictures in every post, since that is what users that come for the frst time to your website first notice... If the images are ncie, they may stay, read the article and maybe click ads if they are smartly placed...

Also.. I have one ad and one link unit per page what makes bgger CTR than beffore when I had 3 ads per page plus link unit etc..

I also removed any refferal buttons since they aren't worth it..

So my advice is to make clean website, and provide content to user on our mainpage immedialtely they come so they don't have to click 1000 times to find what they wan't... also make articles "read more" with just few lines and image on the main site... of any article...

sorry for tyops.. have to run and learn for exam now, hope I'v helped!

cya!

p.s.

submit your website to any "link of the day", cool site of the day/month/week, and if it is good it only takes for it to be noticed, and many others will just copy your link and you will have exponential growth in traffic... alos make your images less than 50kb, upload them to blogger, so they don't eat your bandwith.. I had them previousl on imageshack, but after 50,000 visitors per day the disappear....

also am looking forward to higher my CTR since I can't pass the 2% CTR (added pictures left to my rectangle, nice layout, ads first before article, but just can't get more than 2% even removed MFA, this is what I may use a little help from you guys... I woul appreciate some profis to leave a mal here so I can contact them to echange advices about ad placing...

I have blogger on the main page one skyscraper right (don't have left sidebar :( and one link unit above middle) black template, red links)

also i recommand you if you use blogger to make somehing like sitemap (use one of the first posts they disappeard from main page where you can put the content tree or sothing, it is really ugly what blogger has as previous posts and that archive with months... I just made all my articles as links in my sidebar under sections.

For instance:

i wrote in sidebar -

Scary Jokes:

link post1
link post2
link post3....

Uberfunny Jokes:

link post4
link post5
link post6

....

etc...

so visitors don't have to dig your site foru hours to ind something good your wrote that just disappeared from main page and can be found only in for instance december 2003 archive page... would be cool if blogger allowed sections as wordpress, sorry - categories is what I ment...

Vurdlak,

There is no reason to flame you, looks like an interesting post! Good stuff that you succeed in making money with Blogger blogs. I still have to make my first dollar with Blogger...

You're not supposed to post any links or images. BTW, either you've got a super blog or Friday's spike is going to come back down and you'll be back to $5/day.

Another usefull tip:

Try to break your self and place your blog on eastern market (china, japan...) if pages from there link to you - you have million visitors at least ;)

p.s.

the only problem is the language, but nice images can avoid that problem if the topic is images...

I got a brand new blog. After 2 weeks it has about 100 page impressions all together, mostly caused by myself. I guess I'll never learn...

First thing I do when making new blog is google for:

"submit link"
"submit cool link"
"submit site of the day"

when I did tutorial site, i googled for:

"submti tutorial"
"submit programming article"
"submit c programming link"

...etc

also if you have nice blog, that didn't yet get noticed submit it to slashdot or digg, and if you manage to appear on main pgae you will get many visitors for day or two, and if you are lucky more websites will pick your link and so on...

hope I helped!

//in 2 weeks already got 100,000 unique visitors, and last few days, about 2,000 visitors per hour.//

Interesting tactics- but you're killing me with that kind of talk. I work my butt off for 1/1000 of that kind of traffic on my Blogger sites.

Definitely possible. He said he got on the main page at Digg -- which is pretty much the new Slashdot in terms of viral traffic spikes. If the users like a submission in significant sums it goes on the main page.

It certainly doesn't hurt to sumbit articles there and to other places.

Personally, I prefer more evergreen standalone website content than blogging but I'm glad to see that it's working for some.

Yeah, don't hate me. It wasn't my intention to brag about it, just wanted to help with some things i learned durring my blogging process (previously it took me ages to promote my other blogs about programming, and geek stuff with bad results). Now I think I learned some good tactics and hope you follow some of my examples so that i shorten your boosting period.

Wish you all luck!

P.S.

Sky is your limit, exchange links with webmasters, submit links... etc. For example today I submitted my Link to Times magazine and simmilar magazines )wish me uck-because I'm certian it is quality blog I have) and also was accepted today by "Mac's Picks of the week"

Heartlander, that's exactly what I mean.
Eventually, my blog will probably get about 100 visitors a day, but I guess that 'll be it.
And I work my b@tt off for that!

BTW Vurdlak, thanks for the advice.

If you think you have material that is interesting to others submit your link to different ezines, forums, link of the day... etc... just follow the topics and don't SPAM!

(for example if you are writing about cooking, go to most visited forums on net about cooking and give them you recepeis or smthng and include your link...)

If you know the right forums (google for "biggest forums on the net ...etc.) and find the section about cooking and share it. Be aware that you have to be carfull not to spam. I learned my lesson in the beginning when I didn't know that. So I stopped with forums, and nicely emailed webmaster of websites that have 100,000 visitors per day and ask them if they think my website is up to their standards, and do they think it is quality enough to be reviewd in a way of blog or something... and before I maialed them I've put link to them on my site (they don't care about small amount of traffic you send them, what matters is you are sinceere and honest, and especcially if you have interesting stuff you give them nice material to post on their website and in return they post backlink to you) It's really easy when you are honest and know some social engeneering ;)

hope I helped!

I certainly don't hate you for posting those kinds of stats- whether they are accurate or not, the tactics are well-meaning.
I have indeed done much the same thing, but it hasn't worked for me in nearly the same way as it has for you...but I'm assuming you might have lots more time than I to market your site ; )

I'm also going to add that you should develop a thick skin if you are going to post those kinds of stats.
People working hard at the same things are going to be skeptical and let you know it, whether you want to hear it or not...heh
